This masters programme combines academic study with hands-on practical work. You will develop the tools to understand energy generation and use, covering in depth a range of renewable energy technologies and energy use in buildings. It is a technical degree that gives you knowledge, skills and experience to develop projects at a practical or strategic level.
This course is designed for architecture students who already have Part 1 exemption and who wish to study for the Part 2 examination whilst developing an appropriate philosophical approach to design through the specialism of environment and energy.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
We also offer individual modules on our short course programme, which could be ideal for improving knowledge and skills in specific areas covered by the above courses. The Graduate School of the Environment is an accredited CPD provider. Please request details at
In addition to our postgraduate courses, the Centre for Alternative Technology offers a variety of short residential courses covering a range of sustainability issues. Courses on renewable energy, environmentally friendly building techniques, and water and sanitation solutions can help you learn more about sustainable ways of living, and allow you to put your ideas into practice.
