PhD Candidate - Sustainable Architecture

Background

Bryce is a pursuing PhD with the Graduate School of the Environment at the Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) and with the University of Gloucestershire at Cheltenham. His doctorate thesis is researching the Ecological Footprint of the construction of the Wales Institute for Sustainable Education (WISE) at CAT.

He was Sustainability Manager at Hill Holt Wood, Lincolnshire as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) associate between Hill Holt Wood and the University of Lincoln as a Project Manager designing and developing an Eco-Village. In 2009 his KTP project won the National Award for the 'Best Application of Social or Management Science' for a Knowledge Transfer Partnership.

Bryce has lectured on Sustainable Architecture at the University of Lincoln, De Montfort University and Nottingham-Trent University.

Prior to working at CAT, Bryce worked for the Canadian International Development Agency and as a Sustainable Communities Development Consultant. Bryce has lived and worked in El Salvador, Canada and the UK.

Teaching Activities

Bryce lectures and is a tutor on the MSc: Renewable Energy and the Built Environment programme, he also lectures on the MSc Architecture: Advanced Environmental and Energy Studies programme.

Research Interests

Bryce's current research is concerned with sustainable community development. He has published and lectured on a wide range of topics from ecological economics to sustainable construction.
